Turn left (west) on Crowley Road\, and continue for 0.2 miles. The site will be to the north\, park in the lot.

This 40 acre parcel was identified in the Illinois Natural Areas Inventory as the best remaining example of a dry mesic oak savanna in the state! Non-native brush has invaded the site and we\, and the Blandings Turtles\, need your help to get rid of it! \nDirections: From Rt. 14 in Harvard\, take Brink St east for 1.7 miles. Turn right (south) onto Schultz Rd and continue for 0.3 miles. Turn left (east) onto Lincoln Rd\, and continue for 0.5 miles. The entrance to the site will be on the right (south) and is a gravel lane between a wooded fence row and a farm field. We’ll park at the kiosk and walk in along the farm field.

Join Dennis this Saturday morning for a workday in the new addition to the Nature Preserve! The workday will focus on clearing brush in the woodland\, on top of the hill\, south of the stream near Ridge Road. \nDirections: From the intersection of IL 31 and Bull Valley Rd. in McHenry\, go west on Bull Valley Road 3.2 miles. Turn right (north) onto McAndrews Glen Dr. proceed for .3 miles until you reach Millburne Ct. Turn left and park on the road along the grass field across from the entrance to the preserve. If you are bringing chainsaws\, or other equipment\, you are invited to park in the cleared area off of Ridge Road\, about 1/4 mile north of Bull Valley Rd. on the right (east) side of the road\, if conditions permit.
