We’ll meet near the parking lot entrance and walk back together. \nDirections: From the intersection of 173 and 14 in Harvard\, head east on 173 and continue for 3.2 miles. Turn left (west) on Crowley Road\, and continue for 0.2 miles. The site will be to the north\, park in the lot.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a workday at this exquisite Illinois Nature Preserve! This 40 acre parcel was identified in the Illinois Natural Areas Inventory as the best remaining example of a dry mesic oak savanna in the state! Non-native brush has invaded the site and we\, and the Blandings Turtles\, need your help to get rid of it! \nDirections: From Rt. 14 in Harvard\, take Brink St east for 1.7 miles. Turn right (south) onto Schultz Rd and continue for 0.3 miles. Turn left (east) onto Lincoln Rd\, and continue for 0.5 miles. The entrance to the site will be on the right (south) and is a gravel lane between a wooded fence row and a farm field. We’ll park at the kiosk and walk in along the farm field.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a morning of brush clearing fun at one of Woodstock’s many beautiful natural areas! This is a special little spot in the heart of Woodstock\, though few people know about its botanical treasures. This workday will focus on clearing invasive brush along the eastern boundary of the preserve.\nWe’ll enter the conservation area at the new entrance; so\, please park at the intersection of Gerry St. and Kimball. If you get there after the crew has left the parking area\, head in and follow the sound of chainsaws.\n\nDirections: from the square in downtown Woodstock\, head south to South St. Turn right (west) and follow that for 0.3 miles. Turn left (south) onto Gerry St. and continue for 0.4 miles. Park along Gerry St. near Kimball. If you happen to arrive a little late just follow the smoke and the sound of chainsaws.

SUMMARY:Queen Anne Cemetery Prairie Restoration Workday
DESCRIPTION:Come say “Hello” to one of our newest sites\, Queen Anne Cemetery Prairie and its site steward: Gary! TLC recently acquired this property\, which is the eternal resting place for some of the county’s early European settlers\, and is especially significant due to its remnant plant communities and the intact condition of the plant soil microbiome. However\, like so many others\, this tiny slice of original Illinois prairie has experienced heavy encroachment from several invasive species. \nThis workday will be a bit different offering: LIMITED SURGICAL chainsaw work\, loppering/hand cutting small woody invasives\, string trimming\, and pulling/digging invasive weeds. \nDirections: From the intersection of route 47 and Charles Rd. head east on Charles Rd. and continue for 0.7 miles. At the traffic circle\, take the 2nd exit to continue on Charles Rd. Continue for 0.7 miles and turn left onto Queen Anne Rd. Continue for 0.3 miles and you’ll see Queen Anne Prairie Cemetery on your left. Continue past the cemetery taking a right onto Pheasant Ln. Pull off to the side of the road to park and walk over to the cemetery.
