DESCRIPTION:Weekly Crowley Workdays are returning\, thanks to our new site co-steward: Julie!! She and Larry will be continuing the tradition at this magnificent wooded 80 acre site! Work will continue clearing invasive brush\, under the pines southwest of the central wetland\, to allow more light to reach the understory and encourage native plants and new oaks to grow. We’ll meet near the parking lot entrance and walk back together. \nDirections: From the intersection of 173 and 14 in Harvard\, head east on 173 and continue for 3.2 miles. Turn left (west) on Crowley Road\, and continue for 0.2 miles. The site will be to the north\, park in the lot.

SUMMARY:Queen Anne Cemetery Prairie Restoration Workday
DESCRIPTION:Come say “Hello” to one of our newest sites\, Queen Anne Cemetery Prairie and its site steward: Gary! TLC recently acquired this property\, which is the eternal resting place for some of the county’s early European settlers\, and is especially significant due to its remnant plant communities and the intact condition of the plant soil microbiome. However\, like so many others\, this tiny slice of original Illinois prairie has experienced heavy encroachment from several invasive species. \nThis workday will be a bit different offering: LIMITED SURGICAL chainsaw work\, loppering/hand cutting small woody invasives\, string trimming\, and pulling/digging invasive weeds. \nDirections: From the intersection of route 47 and Charles Rd. head east on Charles Rd. and continue for 0.7 miles. At the traffic circle\, take the 2nd exit to continue on Charles Rd. Continue for 0.7 miles and turn left onto Queen Anne Rd. Continue for 0.3 miles and you’ll see Queen Anne Prairie Cemetery on your left. Continue past the cemetery taking a right onto Pheasant Ln. Pull off to the side of the road to park and walk over to the cemetery.
