DESCRIPTION:Weekly Crowley Workdays continue\, thanks to our site co-steward: Julie! She and Larry will be continuing the tradition at this magnificent wooded 80 acre site! Work will continue clearing invasive brush\, under the pines southwest of the central wetland\, to allow more light to reach the understory and encourage native plants and new oaks to grow. We’ll meet near the parking lot entrance and walk back together. \nDirections: From the intersection of 173 and 14 in Harvard\, head east on 173 and continue for 3.2 miles. Turn left (west) on Crowley Road\, and continue for 0.2 miles. The site will be to the north\, park in the lot.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a workday at this exquisite Illinois Nature Preserve! This 40 acre parcel was identified in the Illinois Natural Areas Inventory as the best remaining example of a dry mesic oak savanna in the state! Non-native brush has invaded the site and we\, and the Blandings Turtles\, need your help to get rid of it! \nDirections: From Rt. 14 in Harvard\, take Brink St east for 1.7 miles. Turn right (south) onto Schultz Rd and continue for 0.3 miles. Turn left (east) onto Lincoln Rd\, and continue for 0.5 miles. The entrance to the site will be on the right (south) and is a gravel lane between a wooded fence row and a farm field. We’ll park at the kiosk and walk in along the farm field.
