You can make a life-or-death difference at a local nature preserve!
Kishwaukee Fen in the Village of Lakewood is protected for its high-quality habitat and rare plants and animals. But it needs your help. This ecological gem has been getting smaller. Its inspiring plants and animals have been blotted out as invasive brush and noxious weeds take over. This fen eagerly awaits you and new friends in an active stewardship community to help this precious nature survive and thrive.
Join in this new initiative! Attend an orientation and watch or even join in some kickoff demonstration work to get a feel for what this is about. We’ll also have a discussion of fen ecology and management practices.
You can help plan and lead the effort or just pitch in.
Come dressed for the wilds – ready to learn, do a bit of work, and make an impact!
