Blanding’s Turtle found on a TLC site

TLC staff found a Blanding’s Turtle on a TLC site. The turtle appears to have suffered (and healed) from a past injury. Blanding’s turtles are considered endangered in Illinois, which is why this is exciting to see!

This is a female who was going overland which probably means she is looking to lay eggs this time of year. TLC’s preserve is part of a breeding population, and our restoration will help them persist. One of the many reasons TLC preserves land for life!
