Conservation@ Programs

Have you heard about a new program called Conservation@Home? The Conservation@Home program can help you make your yard more attractive to wildlife and retain precious rainwater by planting native plants, creating butterfly and rain gardens, using rain barrels and removing exotic species of plants. This recognition program for landowners with environmentally friendly yards was started by The Conservation Foundation in Naperville about six years ago in DuPage, Kane, Will and Kendall counties to give all residents a meaningful way to contribute to the environmental health of their community.
Since then, Conservation@Home has spread to other parts of the region and in 2015 The Land Conservancy began offering it in McHenry County. Not only will you be contributing to a healthier environment and spending valuable outdoor time with your family, you will get to enjoy nature right outside your door.
The program has also expanded to include businesses, schools, and even entire communities. The sky is the limit!
We will even certify your yard as an environmentally friendly landscape and give you a sign to proudly post. Read through the other articles to help you get started converting your own yard into a natural, native oasis for birds, bees and bugs and for you and your family.
