Concannon Conservation Area Restoration Workday

It’s been a while since we’ve had a workday at this site so let’s show some love to the small but promising Concannon Conservation Area! For this workday I’d like to focus on cleaning up the roadside edges where there are lots of invasive trees and shrubs blocking the sunlight and beautiful view. Clearing up the edges will make it much easier for us to manage invasives when we come back during the growing season.
Directions: From the intersection of 47 and 14 on the south side of Woodstock, head north on 47 for 0.4 miles. Turn left (west) onto Southview Dr and continue for 0.2 miles. Take the first left (south) onto Edgewood and park. You should be able to see our signs.

Tips to make your workday experience safe/enjoyable:
Bring plenty of water – better to bring too much than too little!
Sturdy boots or old tennis shoes
Leather gloves or gardening gloves, an extra pair in the winter is a good idea
Long sleeves/pants – prevent scrapes and scratches from branches
Hat – protects noggin from embers
Sunglasses or eye protection
Layering is helpful in cold weather
Feel free to bring loppers if you’ve got them
