Crowley Oaks Restoration Workday
January 15, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Join Larry for another restoration adventure at Crowley Oak Woods! Restoration has been occurring on this 80 acre tract since the winter of 2020 and we’re making excellent progress clearing the brush from the highest quality areas of the preserve. We conducted our first prescribed burn here this spring and the ground layer has responded in a really positive way! We’ll be cutting mainly honeysuckle and buckthorn and selectively thinning cherry trees and shagbark hickories to allow more light to reach the understory and encourage native plants and new oaks to grow.
Directions: From the intersection of 173 and 14 in Harvard, head east on 173 and continue for 3.2 miles. Turn left (west) on Crowley Road, and continue for 0.2 miles. The site will be to the north, and you may park along the road. If you’ve got a rugged vehicle, feel free to drive back on the lane but stop at the end of the lane if ground conditions are moist.
Nearest address: 18725 Crowley Rd. Harvard
