Exciting news!!! We’ll now be offering a Weekly Wednesday Workday at Crowley Oaks in Harvard. This would not be possible without the help of one of our incredible volunteers so a special thanks to LARRY FETZER for stepping up to be Site Steward of Crowley! Now, Larry is understandably reluctant to use herbicides so, if you plan on attending one of these workdays, please let me know if you would be willing to be the herbicide applicator for the day. We’ll keep the chemical and some herbicide gloves stored at Crowely for convenience.
Directions: From the intersection of 173 and 14 in Harvard, head east on 173 and continue for 3.2 miles. Turn left (west) on Crowley Road, and continue for 0.2 miles. The site will be to the north, and you may park along the road. If you’ve got a rugged vehicle, feel free to drive back on the lane.
Nearest address: 18725 Crowley Rd. Harvard
Tips to make your workday experience safe/enjoyable
Bring plenty of water – better to bring too much than too little!
Sturdy boots or old tennis shoes will do
Leather gloves or gardening gloves
Long sleeves/pants – prevent scrapes and scratches from branches
Hat – helps protect hair from embers
Sunglasses or eye protection
Feel free to bring loppers if you’ve got them!
