Final Friday Restoration Workday

The main goal of this project will be to ensure the continued establishment of native vegetation, improve the water quality of the downstream areas, and to prevent soil erosion and sedimentation of wetland and buffer areas.  Remnant and restored ecosystems are present on this property, but the encroachment of invasive, primarily non-native plant species threaten to replace native plant communities. Removing these invasive species will allow native ecosystems to establish themselves, creating habitat for high-quality plants and animals. The strategic direction will be to restore woodland, savanna, prairie, and wetland communities in a sustainable and achievable way throughout the future. The specific task for this workday will be to removing cotton woods from the berm to make future management easier. We’ll gather at Monica Lane and walk over to the berm together.
