Final Friday Workday – Lake in the HIlls
November 22 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Join Kim for a Final Friday at the Wilson Conservation Easement! The Easement covers 0.69 acres and features a remnant oak woodland. Prior to urban development, the area surrounding the Easement was an oak woodland. The Wilson Easement lies within a vast network of protected land including the Lake in the Hills Fen, the Prairie Trail South and about a dozen municipal parks. The Wilson C.E. is a high quality natural area, containing primarily native plant species such as cut leaved toothwort, Dutchman’s breeches, sedges, trillium, Jack-in-the-pulpit and horse gentian. Native animal species that utilize the conservation easement include chipmunk, downy woodpecker, warblers, great blue heron and red-headed woodpeckers. The main task for today will be to clean up some large fallen trees and clear honeysuckle.
There is room in the driveway for a couple of cars; once that is full we can park on the street.
