Join us for this post-Oak Rescue wrap up! Thanks to so many of you, we had a hugely successful rescue on New Year’s Eve and were able to clear the majority of brush choking the earth beneath the surviving old-world oaks. For this workday we’ll aim to remove the remaining invasives and weedy tree species to let light reach the understory and hopefully encourage a new generation of oaks to take root.
Directions: From Rt. 14 in Harvard, take Brink St east for 1.7 miles. Turn right (south) onto Schultz Rd and continue for 0.3 miles. Turn left (east) onto Lincoln Rd, and continue for 0.5 miles. The entrance to the site will be on the right (south) and is a gravel lane between a wooded fencerow and a hayfield. We’ll park at the kiosk and walk along the farm field.
