Irish Oaks Restoration Workday

We would like to spend this day back near Hickory Hill where much of the smaller invasive brush has already been mowed. All that’s left to do here is cut some of the bigger buckthorn that are still standing and finish brushing out the little corner that borders the wetland.
Directions: From Rt. 14 in Harvard, take Brink St east for 1.7 miles. Turn right (south) onto Schultz Rd and continue for 0.3 miles. Turn left (east) onto Lincoln Rd, and continue for 0.5 miles. The entrance to the site will be on the right (south) and is a gravel lane between a wooded fencerow and a hayfield. If you keep going down the lane it will take a left up the hill where we usually park for workdays.

Tips to make your workday experience safe/enjoyable:
Bring plenty of water – better to bring too much than too little!
Sturdy boots or old tennis shoes
Leather gloves or gardening gloves, an extra pair in the winter is a good idea
Long sleeves/pants – prevent scrapes and scratches from branches
Hat – protects noggin from embers
Sunglasses or eye protection
Layer up in cold weather
Feel free to bring loppers if you’ve got them
