Irish Oaks Restoration Workday

Our lovely steward Margee won’t be able to attend this workday but Larry will be there to lead the charge! This day looks like it will be fairly hot as well but hopefully you’ll get lucky with another breezy morning since you’ll be next to the farm field again. Plenty of honeysuckle and buckthorn to sink your “teeth” into here. Ha ha.
Directions: From Rt. 14 in Harvard, take Brink St east for 1.7 miles. Turn right (south) onto Schultz Rd and continue for 0.3 miles. Turn left (east) onto Lincoln Rd, and continue for 0.5 miles. The entrance to the site will be on the right (south) and is a gravel lane between a wooded fencerow and a hayfield. We’ll park at the kiosk and walk along the farm field.

Tips to make your workday experience safe/enjoyable:
Bring plenty of water – better to bring too much than too little!
Sturdy boots or old tennis shoes
Leather gloves or gardening gloves
Long sleeves/pants – prevent scrapes and scratches from branches
Certain bug sprays and tucking pants into socks helps guard against ticks
Hat – helps protect hair from embers
Sunglasses or eye protection
Feel free to bring loppers if you’ve got them
