Kishwaukee Fen Restoration Workday
November 17 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Celebrate the arrival of autumn through a morning of stewardship at the fen. As the end of the growing season draws closer, more and more wetland seeds are ripening and ready to gather.
We’ll gather the seeds of precious wetland species to return to the ecosystem once they’ve been prepped and mixed. Blazing star, flat-topped aster, cowbane, and more await loving hands to collect and broadcast.
The pernicious invasive purple loosestrife has also been busy making seeds – their seed heads are growing riper, but we still have time to hunt them down, clip and bag them before they do any more damage.
Come one, come all!
We’ll meet at 9am at the end of Palmer Drive in the Village of Lakewood, and work until around 12pm. If you’re thinking of coming, please RSVP to this email.
Wear sturdy, waterproof boots, bring plenty of water and a snack.
