Restoration Workday at Wonder Lake Sedge Meadow

Owned by the City of Wonder Lake, Wonder Lake Sedge Meadow is preserved through a conservation easement. For this day we’ll be clearing a burn break/access trail along the southern boundary line which borders the Nippersink Creek at the point where it enters Wonder Lake. This will serve as a safe line during prescribed burns but will also give us better access to the grove of oaks along the Nippersink so we can begin to clear the invasive woody species that have encroached over the years.

Directions: From Woodstock. From the intersection of 47 and 120 in Woodstock, head east on 120 for 3.8 miles. At the stop sign, continue straight onto Greenwood Rd and continue for another 2.7 miles. Turn right (east) onto W Wonder Lake Road, and continue for another 1.2 miles. The destination will be on your right- the second driveway after Thompson Rd. We park at a public works facility, please park at the end of the driveway and don’t block access to the building.
