Saturday Garlic Mustard Pull at Ryders Woods

April 27 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join our Caroline, your Fearless Weeder, for a different kind of workday at one of Woodstock’s beautiful natural areas! For this event we’ll be going after an invasive that inhabits many of our woodlands and tends to outcompete our native spring ephemerals.
Can you guess what it is?? Yep, GARLIC MUSTARD! Boo-hiss. The main task for today will consist of hand pulling and bagging the mustard plants in the northern areas of the park where we did brush clearing last year and the year before. There are currently a lot of good ephemerals coming up in these areas as well so be sure to watch your step! There won’t be any engine running today so no need to bring hearing or eye protection but a good set of yard gloves and a supply of drinking water are recommended.
Directions: From the intersection of 14 and 47, head north on 47, Turn left on Lake Ave, and then left on Dick Tracy Ave. Park near the playground and we’ll walk over to the work area together.
Nearest Address: 556 Lake Ave, Woodstock IL
