Waichunas Conservation Area Restoration Workday

This is one of TLC’s wetland sites which provides habitat for a range of animals including birds, mammals, and amphibians. We’ll be working on a small section of woodland at the southernmost boundary closest to the road. This area had quite a few dead standing trees so I imagine there may be a few blown over by the strong winds we had last summer. Stick around after to see how our resident Beaver is getting on!

Directions: From the intersection of 176 and River Rd in Island Lake, head north on River Road for 0.7 miles. Take a sharp right onto Dowell Road, and look for a small gravel pull off to the left (north side of the road). A sign should be visible for “Waichunas Conservation Area”. If you don’t think your car will fit in the small pull off you can park across the road off of S Thomas Ct.
