Yonder Prairie Restoration Workday
June 19 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Would you like to get outside, meet new people and do something great for our local environment? Here’s how you can help:
Volunteers assist with cutting, stacking and burning invasive brush to allow native trees and plants to grow!
Please bring a mask and a pair of work gloves if you have them and wear sturdy boots or shoes as well as old clothing (may get burn holes). Tools will be provided.
Yonder Prairie, an Illinois Nature Preserve, is a 70 acre wet prairie, sedge meadow, and oak savanna complex. Since 2009, volunteers have been clearing invasive shrubs and trees, rejuvenating the bare, shaded ground-layer and turning it into a lush, diverse ecosystem. There are still areas of the preserve that need to be restored, so come on out and lend a hand!
