York Conservation Area Restoration Workday

This small, 2.5 acre site was donated to The Land Conservancy in 2011. Although small in size, it’s proximity to a high quality wetland complex which is adjacent to our Tryon Creek Woods site make it an important corridor for wildlife. This parcel was densely wooded with several giant white oaks and many smaller shagbark hickory but is slowly being thinned of weedy tree species with each visit! This workday will focus on continuing to untangle the beneficial native trees and shrubs from the bittersweet and porcelain vine that’s choking them and removing large white poplar.
