Final Friday Restoration Workday at Remington Grove Johnsburg

Come hang out with your favorite group of restoration warriors as we take out invasive brush and enjoy friendly banter around a toasty campfire. We made a huge dent in February cleaning up the fallen log obstacles that were making it very difficult to manage invasive species along the creek area. This week we’ll be working in an area between our conservation easement and a retention pond where poplar trees are starting to have a dominating presence.
Directions: From the intersection of 120 and 31 in McHenry, go north on 31 for 2.5 miles. Take a left (west) onto Alexander Blvd, which is the entrance to the Remington Grove Subdivision and another left onto Monica lane. You may park along the curb on Monica lane. Tips to make your workday experience safe/enjoyable:
Bring plenty of water – better to bring too much than too little!
Sturdy boots or old tennis shoes
Leather gloves or gardening gloves, an extra pair in the winter is a good idea
Long sleeves/pants – prevent scrapes and scratches from branches
Hat – protects noggin from embers
Sunglasses or eye protection
Layer up in cold weather
Feel free to bring loppers if you’ve got them
