Van Maren Woods Restoration Workday
January 22 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Would you like to get outside, meet new people and do something great for our local environment? Get involved in a restoration workday! No need to register, feel free to stop by!
Volunteers assist with cutting, stacking and burning invasive brush to allow native trees and plants to grow.
Please bring a pair of work gloves if you have them and wear sturdy boots or shoes as well as old clothing (may get burn holes). Tools will be provided.
Van Maren Woods (part of Community Research Forest) is one of three parcels of land located just southwest of Harvard that total 93 acres. It includes a 40-acre conservation easement donated to TLC by the late Al Van Maren, a private landowner. Two of the parcels (about 53 acres) were purchased by the Conservation District funded in large part by a grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation.
