Earlier this year, Ted Thornton made a $50,000 donation to TLC in memory of his wife Judy, who passed away in early 2020.
Ted and Judy were fixtures in the local environmental community for decades, especially the Environmental Defenders and The Land Conservancy, contributing to both organizations as donors and volunteers!
In 2017, Ted and Judy’s daughter, Katie, and son, Buzz, gathered family from across the country in Woodstock to plant 50 Oaks for 50 Years to celebrate Ted and Judy’s 50th wedding anniversary. The planting can be seen at Merryman Park in Woodstock. Those oaks will provide shade and beauty for local families for generations!

Members and friends of the Thornton family gathered to plant 50 oaks for 50 years at Merryman Park in Woodstock in 2017.
Ted volunteers his time and restoration skills at many TLC workdays!

Ted is still an active land restoration volunteer, wielding a chainsaw to slay buckthorn and honeysuckle in many local natural areas!

Through his generous donation in support of TLC’s mission in memory of Judy, Ted is keeping her memory alive and ensuring her legacy of love and caring for people and the land continues.
If you are moved by Ted and Judy’s story, you can make a year-end donation in their honor here.
Thank you for caring!
