“We joined TLC because its mission closely aligns with how we approach both our work and our lives … We are fortunate that our farm is surrounded by acres of restored prairie. Supporting TLC felt like a way to contribute to those same values beyond our own land.”
How did you find out about The Land Conservancy of McHenry County?
We were lucky to learn of TLC early on thanks to family connections and a shared passion for caring for the land. As farmers, we’re always looking to connect with organizations that share a commitment to stewardship and ecological health. So this was a natural fit.
Why did you decide to become a member of TLC?
We joined TLC because its mission closely aligns with how we approach both our work and our lives. On our farm, we focus on regenerative, no-till practices that prioritize soil health, biodiversity, and long-term sustainability. Our farm is fortunate to be surrounded by acres of restored prairie. Supporting TLC felt like a way to contribute to those same values beyond our own land. We are also proud members of the Conservation@Home program at our off-farm home as well!
What would you tell someone who is thinking about joining TLC?
We would say that TLC is a way to be part of something bigger than your own backyard. It connects you to a network of people who care deeply about protecting natural spaces and ensuring they remain accessible and thriving for years to come. They also have amazing events and webinars that help educate members and bring everyone together in nature.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
Farming has taught us that healthy land is the foundation for everything from food and habitat to community. We’re grateful for organizations like TLC that are working to protect and restore areas across the county. Being members gives us hope for a brighter, greener future and a sense of shared purpose.
