TLC Preserve Driving Tour
The Land Conservancy of McHenry County (TLC) is excited to engage the community through the amazing properties TLC owns and manages because of the support from you, TLC’s members and donors!
TLC has eight preserves that are open to the public. You can learn more about the preserves here. These sites protect natural lands, wetlands, and woods to support wildlife, clean air, and water quality. We encourage you to visit them all!
These places represent the unique role that TLC plays in conservation – we only acquire a site if a public agency is unable to, protecting sensitive lands, wetlands, and woods to support wildlife, clean air, and water quality, thanks to your support.
The preserves are a tangible reminder that the benefits TLC provides to the community. These are places where you can take a break from the busy-ness of life, listen for birds, see wildflowers, and connect with something that is bigger than all of us.
The Tour starts at Hennen Conservation Area, TLC’s Headquarters, at 4622 Dean Street, Woodstock, a wonderful, 25-acre site with nearly three miles of trails that wind past a pond, woods, wetlands and prairie.
TLC’s office is in the white farmhouse if you ever want to stop in and say hello (best chance of someone being in the office is between 10-3 M-F). Thank you for all you do for the natural world around us, and for helping Preserve Land for Life!
