Harvard, IL once was covered with lush oak woodland and savanna, habitat to an array of native flora and fauna.

Since 1837, McHenry County has lost 87 percent of its oaks, and much of that loss happened right in Harvard. Thanks to funds from The Morton Arboretum, TLC is able to put forth greater effort to restore some of that native oak land!

How is TLC helping?

  • Offering free Conservation@Home and Conservation@Work site visits for Harvard residents and businesses
  • Giving away oaks and shrubs to qualified landowners and businesses in Harvard
  • Planting Memorial and Celebration Oaks in Lions Park
