TLC Fundraisers
Art of the Land
Art of the Land is TLC’s biggest event of the year, and all proceeds support land preservation in McHenry County.
Annual Celebration
The Annual Celebration brings TLC members and friends together for a celebration of the good works completed in the previous year.
Attend an Event
The Land Conservancy holds a number of events throughout the year that are opportunities for folks to learn about the work TLC does, get involved with TLC, develop new skills, and support land preservation in McHenry County.
Learn & Develop New Skills
- Volunteer at a land restoration event. TLC holds restoration events 1-3 times each week. No experience needed – we will train people on basic land restoration techniques that include removal of invasive brush, garlic mustard control and native seed collection. Check the Calendar for upcoming events, or contact Megan Oropeza for more information.
- Training is held each year to teach landowners how to restore and care for their privately owned oak havitats. Contact Sarah Michehl at 815-337-9502 or [email protected]
- Ecological Fire Training is a one-day class held in the early spring to introduce landowners and volunteers to the proper use of ecological burning for natural area management.
- Chainsaw Training is a half-day class held in fall to teach people how to maintain and use a chainsaw properly. Contact Megan Oropeza to get details on the next class.
- Learn about seed collecting at our Seed Sharing Day. This is an opportunity for people to collect and share native seed for their prairie, savannas and wet habitats.
