Donato Woods Restoration Workday in Woodstock

April 28, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Volunteers are needed at Donato Conservation Area, an amazing woodland right in the middle of Woodstock! This isn’t just any woods-it’s full of beautiful spring wildflowers, ferns and a vast diversity of native plants unrivaled by most woodlands in town!

In this woodland, volunteers are needed to remove invasive species that prohibit the growth of native trees and plants. We cut brush such as buckthorn, honeysuckle, and small willows with chainsaws and hand loppers. Volunteers can cut or help build and burn brush piles.

No experience is necessary, so if you love being outside, come join our team of friendly volunteers! Tools and light refreshments are provided. Please dress in long pants, sturdy shoes and old clothing for working near a burn pile.

Tips to make your workday experience safe/enjoyable:

Bring plenty of water – better to bring too much than too little!

Sturdy boots or old tennis shoes will do

Leather gloves or gardening gloves

Long sleeves/pants – prevent scrapes and scratches from branches

Hat – helps protect hair from embers

Sunglasses or eye protection

Feel free to bring loppers if you’ve got them!

Hope to see you there!
